Indians Scalp Yankees – Cattle Rustling Next?

Saturday, April 18, 2009 will be a new day of infamy for the New York Yankees as they gave up 14 runs in the second inning to the Cleveland Indians. Fourteen runs. Let that roll around on your tongue for a little bit. If you hate the Yankees as much as I do, this taste goes down pretty sweet.

Welcome to the new Yankee Stadium. The total score of 22 was the fourth highest score ever against a Yankee’s team with all previous records also going to a Cleveland ball club. This was a lot like the Yankees loss of 22 – 0 from the Indians on August 31, 1994.

What a beautiful think to happen on their third home game in their brand new multi-billion dollar stadium. I wonder what the people who paid $2,600 for their “most expensive tickets in baseball” felt about that one? What a bargain. No wonder most of those seats were empty.

How can you charge over $2,000 more for a seat than any other ballclub in baseball? Especially if the team is going to play like that. We know that you have a new stadium to pay for, but really. The pricing is ridiculous and can only hurt the Yankees since they seem to need to spend more money than other ballclub just to field a crappy team.

Here’s hoping that the Yankees can keep on this roll and continue to freefall into despair.
